Tuesday, August 25, 2026 - A Chief Magistrate Court I sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has ordered the remand of a 38-year-old Islamic teacher, Sagir Sani, in prison custody for allegedly def!ling two minors.
The court presided by Chief Magistrate Ismail Bello
Shelleng, remanded the defendant, for the offences of indecent treatment of a child,
s3xual assault and defilement.
Sagir, a teacher at an Islamic School in Numan Local
Government allegedly defiled 9 and 8 years girls, (names withheld) respectively
in the LGA.
The defendant, who was arraigned on First Information Report
(FIR) before Chief Magistrate I Jimeta by ASP Zakka Musa, vehemently denied
committing the alleged offences.
ASP Zakka informed the court that the mother of one of the
victims, (names withheld) had reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters in
Numan on the 7th August, 2026, that the defendant defiled the minors while
attending Quaranic recitation classes.
According to the prosecution, the defendant lured his
victims behind class rooms and defiled them.
On his arraigment, the defendant pleaded not guilty when the
content of the FIR was read and interpreted to him.
Thereafter, the prosecuting police officer, ASP Zakka Musa,
applied that the case be adjourned to enable prosecution transmit case diary to
DPP for advice.
The court granted his application and adjourned the matter
and ordered the remand of the defendant.
