Monday, October 5, 2026 -The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has warned commercial drivers and the public against conveying parcels whose contents they do not know, after a bus driver was nearly charged over a package containing cocaine and methamphetamine.
The Director, Media and Advocacy of the agency, Femi
Babafemi, said in a post on his X page on Sunday that the driver was given a
bottle of Fearless energy drink as a waybill package in Lagos for delivery in
Ondo State.
Babafemi said the driver took the bottle as an energy drink,
but operatives of the agency discovered that it had been used to conceal
illicit substances, identified as cocaine and methamphetamine.
He said the driver spent some time in custody and could have
ended up in jail, but was spared because officers were able to trace and arrest
the person who handed over the package.
Sharing a video alongside the post, Babafemi wrote, “When
they say don’t judge a book by its cover, it’s for a reason. A commercial bus
driver spent some time in custody and would have ended in jail because he
assumed a bottle of fearless energy drink given him as a waybill package in
Lagos to deliver in Ondo state actually contains energy drink.”

He added that the driver may have been lucky, as other
persons might not be so fortunate.
“Your own case may be devoid of such luck and you go in for
it,” he said.
The NDLEA spokesman urged drivers and others involved in
parcel delivery to desist from carrying packages whose contents they cannot
verify.
“Please avoid taking parcels you don’t know its content
because possession makes you culpable, that’s the law,” he stated.
