Wednesday, September 23, 2026 - Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Dayi–Malumfashi road in Katsina State.
The rescue operation was conducted at about 11:45 p.m. on
Monday, September 21, 2026, when the security forces intercepted a
green-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3, with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY,
conveying the victims.
The Media Officer, Joint Task Force West OPFY, Lt. Col.
Aliyu Danja, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday said the rescued
persons comprised six females students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma,
Katsina State, and the vehicle’s driver, identified as Sani Umar.
The victims were rescued during ongoing security operations
along the route, while efforts continue to ensure their safety and establish
the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Military sources said the troops remain on high alert and
have maintained strong operational readiness across the area.
The rescue comes amid sustained security operations along
major routes in Katsina State to prevent kidnapping and other criminal
activities.
