Friday, September 18, 2026 - There was palpable tension in Aujarawar Alkali community in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State after armed bandits stormed the village and abducted its traditional ruler, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata Midnight.
Eyewitnesses said the traditional leader was whisked away
during a late-night raid on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after the attackers
reportedly invaded the community with sophisticated weapons and fled with him
to an unknown destination.
The incident was confirmed on Friday in a statement by Mahi
Ismail, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and the District Head of Jogana, who
described the incident as a threat to the peace of the area.
According to the statement, the attack has plunged residents
into fear and uncertainty, with families and community leaders expressing
concern over the safety of the abducted village head.
Reacting to the incident, the District Head of Jogana,
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, urged security agencies to intensify efforts to
secure the monarch’s immediate rescue and reinforce security across vulnerable
rural communities.
“We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the
protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe
return of our village head,” the district head said.
He also called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding
while supporting ongoing security efforts through vigilance and cooperation
with relevant authorities.
Ma’aji further urged the public to pray for the safe release
of Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, expressing hope that the abducted monarch would
soon reunite with his family and the people of Aujarawar Alkali.
However, the Kano Police Command is yet to make a statement
or react to the incident.
