Thursday, June 9, 2026 - The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed the death of two men in a fatal road accident at Ogbere junction along the Ogbere–J4 corridor.
The crash which occurred at about 5:10 a.m.
on Thursday, involved a white Mack truck with registration number ABC660XC
and an orange Peugeot J5 bus with an unknown registration number.
Spokesperson of the Command, Afolabi Odunsi, stated that
four male occupants were involved in the crash, but two persons lost their
lives, while two others escaped unhurt.
Odunsi ascribed the causes of the crash to route and speed
violation, adding that the impact of the collision led to the Peugeot J5 bus
catching fire, with its front section completely burnt.
He said, “FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene within
two minutes of being notified and immediately commenced traffic management.
“The affected lane was diverted to the alternative
carriageway to ease vehicular movement while efforts continued to remove the
wreckage and restore free flow of traffic.”
He noted that the bodies of the deceased were evacuated by
the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division, Ogbere Division, and deposited at
the mortuary.
The PRO quoted the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare
Ogunjobi, to have expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and
stressed the need for motorists to obey traffic regulations at all times.
He warned drivers against speeding and route
violations, especially during periods of poor visibility and on wet road
surfaces, noting that such dangerous driving behaviours continue to be major
causes of fatal crashes on Nigerian roads.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring safer
roads through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment, and prompt rescue
operations.
