Saturday, October 24, 2026 -The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Zamfara State has arrested a 24-year-old man, Abdulraheed Abdullahi, for allegedly transporting suspected illegal drugs while posing as a commercial driver.
The suspect was presented to journalists at the NSCDC state
headquarters in Gusau by ASCI Umar Mohammad M., who represented the state
commandant, Sani Mustapha.
Umar said NSCDC officers arrested Abdullahi at a checkpoint
in Anka Local Government Area while he was allegedly carrying the substances.
He explained that the case was transferred from the corps’
Anka Divisional Office to the state headquarters in Gusau for further action.
According to him, Abdullahi is from Bagega village in Anka
LGA and works as a commercial driver. The suspected drugs were allegedly hidden
inside a carton of Indomie noodles.
The suspect reportedly claimed that he received the package
from a fellow transport union member who is now at large.
The items recovered from him included 50 sachets of Lara
Tramadol, two leather packages containing suspected methamphetamine, also known
as ice, 1,000 Diazepam tablets labelled D5, and two tied packs of cannabis.
Umar said the state commandant had directed that the case be
handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for further
investigation and necessary action.
He said the decision reflected the corps’ commitment to
transparency and cooperation with other security agencies.
The NSCDC spokesperson also warned that the corps would not
tolerate criminal activities, adding that anyone arrested would undergo
thorough investigation and face prosecution in a competent court where
appropriate.
“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, under
the inspired and discerning leadership of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed
Abubakar Audi, the Corps is committed to civil centred access to justice and
has adopted effective measures for the prevention and eradication of
illegalities within the confines of the nation,” the statement said.
It added that the Zamfara command, under Sani Mustapha, had
established measures to tackle criminal activities threatening peace and
security in the state.
The statement further said the command was working with
other security agencies to curb unlawful activities and protect the state’s
social and economic wellbeing.
