Wednesday, October 28 2026 - Nigerian-born American rapper Ms Jorji has opened up about her childhood, alleging that her father subjected her to sexual abuse for seven years while her family prioritised protecting his reputation.
Speaking during an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, the
rapper claimed the abuse began when she was about 11 years old and continued
until she turned 18.
“My father molested me all through my childhood,” she
revealed.
Ms Jorji expressed concern about the prevalence of sexual
abuse in Nigeria, claiming that several women she knows have experienced
similar situations involving relatives, religious leaders and neighbours.
“There is an epidemic that is going on in our country,” she
said.
She also recounted how a female friend was allegedly
sexually assaulted in Nigeria about three months ago. According to her, she
spent approximately ₦1 million trying to get the police to investigate the
case, but the matter remained unresolved after the suspect reportedly fled.
Reflecting on her own experience, Ms Jorji accused her
family of being more concerned about protecting her father's reputation than
addressing what she went through.
“Protect my father, protect the image of the family,” she
recalled.
She argued that the pressure to preserve family reputations
often prevents victims from speaking out and allows perpetrators to escape
accountability.
The rapper also encouraged people to reconsider the belief
that family relationships must be maintained at all costs.
“Family is not about blood. Family is the people who want
the best for you and you can create family,” she said.
“Just because you're born into a family does not mean that's
where you're supposed to stay,” she added.
