Monday, August 3, 2026 - German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian champions Club Brugge.
The 25-year-old Super Eagles midfielder has signed a
contract until June 30, 2031, in a deal worth around €10 million (over N15
billion).
“Eintracht Frankfurt and Club Brugge have reached an
agreement for the transfer of Raphael Onyedika. The Nigerian international will
receive a contract until June 30, 2031, and will wear the number 25 jersey,”
the club announced.
Following the announcement, sporting director Markus Krosche
spoke to the official website of Frankfurt, explaining exactly why the German
club decided to sign the Super Eagles midfielder.
“Raphael Onyedika impresses us not only with his robustness
and strategic understanding of the game, but above all with his exceptional
consistency. He has been a regular starter for several years and has celebrated
numerous titles in Belgium,” Krösche said.
“Furthermore, he possesses valuable international
experience. At 25 years old, he still has great potential for development and
is also an important building block for the structure of our squad.
The defensive midfielder has a total of 268 senior
appearances, including 24 in the UEFA Champions League over the past three
seasons.
Onyedika won the Belgian championship twice with Bruges and,
in addition to the Belgian Cup and Super Cup, also won the Danish Cup with FC
Midtjylland, his first club abroad.
