Thursday, August 27, 2026 - A Florida man has been arrested after authorities accused him of putting methamphetamine into a 1-year-old child’s sippy cup, resulting in the child allegedly ingesting the drug and suffering an overdose.
The incident reportedly occurred in February in Callahan,
Florida. According to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ, the child was taken
to hospital in critical condition but survived and was subsequently placed in
the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Mark Windham, 46, was arrested Saturday and charged with
child neglect causing great bodily harm and possession of drug paraphernalia
with residue, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say several people who were previously arrested
in connection with the case identified Windham as the person who allegedly
poured the methamphetamine into the child’s cup. A warrant for his arrest was
issued in February. The child’s parents and two other people living at the
Callahan home had previously been arrested. They were identified as Hayden
Simmons, Damien Windham, Erica Foley and Judith Addison.
Investigators also said the adults at the residence did not
immediately call 911 after learning the child may have been exposed to
methamphetamine. Instead, authorities allege that the child’s mother took the
toddler to a nearby fire station, from where the child was transported to a
local hospital.
Windham was booked into the Nassau County Jail & Detention Center. His bond was set at more than $25,000 for the child-neglect charge, plus $2,500 for the drug-paraphernalia charge.
