Friday, August 28, 2026 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly def!ling his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed
this in a statement on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
According to the statement, a report was received on
Wednesday, August 26, alleging that the suspect, Balarabe Adamu, a resident of
Lame in Toro LGA and stepfather of the victim, “s3xually abused his 8-month-old
stepdaughter, who was brought to his residence by his wife.”
Following the incident, the victim was immediately taken to
the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment.
“The Bauchi
State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged case
of defilement involving an 8-month-old baby in Toro Local Government Area,” the
statement read.
"In
line with the Command’s mandate to protect vulnerable persons and ensure the
prosecution of s3xual offenders, a report was received on Wednesday, 26th
August, 2026 at about 1734hrs.
"It was
alleged that one Balarabe Adamu, a step father and resident of Lame in Toro
LGA, sexually abused his 8-months old step daughter, who was brought to his
residence by his wife.
"Following
the incident, the victim was immediately taken to General Hospital, Toro for
medical examination and treatment.
"Upon
receipt of the report, operatives attached to Gumau Division swiftly responded
and arrested the suspect. He is currently in custody and undergoing
investigation.
"The
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has condemned the
act in the strongest terms.
"He
assured members of the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and
the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion, in accordance with the
law.
"Furthermore,
the Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on all forms of s3xual
violence and child abuse.
"Parents,
guardians, and community leaders are urged to remain vigilant and report any
suspicious act to the nearest police station for prompt intervention.
“Further
updates on the case will be communicated to the public in due course.”
