UFC star, JON JONES, pleads not guilty to misdemeanor charges amid claims he 'threatened to kill drug tester'

Thursday, July 18, 2024 - UFC star, Jon Jones, has pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces for allegedly threatening to kill a drug-testing agent.

Jones, who currently holds the UFC's heavyweight title, is reportedly facing jail time after being charged with two misdemeanors in relation to his row with drug testers.

Back in April, he was accused of threatening the life of an anti-doping official - while allegedly intoxicated at the time - after they tried to carry out a drug test.

This week Jones was officially charged with assault and interference with communications. He faces a year in prison and could be fine up to $1,500.

However, Jones is adamant that he did not 'threaten, get in anyone’s face, raise my voice to anyone, or engage in any form of assault,' and on Wednesday he officially entered a not-guilty plea over the charges.

At a virtual bond hearing in New Mexico, the 36-year-old pleaded not guilty before being told he is a free man pending trial after a judge granted his attorney's request.

MMA Fighting reports that he is now under strict orders to 'not violate any laws, possess any firearms or dangerous weapons, or neither possess or consume any alcohol or illegal drugs'.

Jones also must avoid 'all contact' with the alleged victims in this case.

According to a police report, the UFC heavyweight king was accused of grabbing the 'terrified' tester's phone and threatening to sue her and her colleague.

Jones, whom the tester thought may have been drunk, then gave the official a chilling warning, according to their testimony.

'Why you f****** people come so early,' Jones is said to have told the agent, per the police report. 'Do you know what happens to people who come to my house, they end up dead.'
