Friday, January 19, 2024 – Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, on Thursday, January 18, met with his United States counterpart, Jake Sullivan, to deliberate on matters about security cooperation.
A statement from White House revealed that Ribadu’s meeting
with Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, was focused on efforts to
counter terrorism in West Africa, and the importance of respect for human
rights.
They also discussed strengthening democratic institutions
and good governance across Africa.
Sullivan emphasized President Biden's unwavering commitment
to Africa, highlighting the robust nature of the US-Nigeria relationship.
He also expressed appreciation for Nigeria's strong
leadership within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Both nations have affirmed their commitment to maintaining
close coordination and further enhancing their partnership to promote shared
interests.
