I promise you, I will appear in courts myself to prosecute corruption cases - ICPC Chairman, MUSA ALIYU

 – Musa Aliyu, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday, vowed to personally appear in different courts in the country any time the agency is prosecuting corruption cases.

Aliyu, who stated this in Abuja during a maiden media interaction with journalists, also said he would lead by example, and engage lawyers as well as the Nigerian Law School to make them see reasons corruption must be fought to a standstill across different sectors.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Attorney-General of Jigawa State, said apart from being young and energetic to get things done, his experience as a prosecutor throughout his career would be handy in the area of getting more convictions of suspects.

Aliyu noted that apart from engaging lawyers and Nigerian Law School, his administration would engage other diverse stakeholders like the media, other anti-corruption agencies, civil society organisations, the private sector, international partners and citizens in order to assemble perspectives, expertise and resources.

According to him, the ICPC’s fight against corruption would henceforth be based on the use of technology to fast-track the process, adding that the ICPC’s threefold strategy is prevention, investigation and prosecution, which forms the bedrock of the commission’s action plan against corruption.
