APC Governors caution Nigerians against passing judgment on Minister BETTA EDU

Thursday, January 11, 2024
– Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have asked Nigerians to await anti-graft investigation findings, and not to judge the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu directed the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, to investigate all financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Edu was suspended on Monday.

Edu came under criticism after a leaked memo on December 20, 2023, revealed that she directed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer N585m to a private account owned by one Oniyelu Bridget, who the ministry claimed currently serves as the Project Accountant, Grants for Vulnerable Groups.

The Chairman of the Progressives Governor’s Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who stated this in Abuja on Wednesday night, disclosed that the APC Governors are united and assured Nigerians that they will continue to support Tinubu’s administration to achieve the renewed hope agenda.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Uzodinma said the meeting allowed them to review what is going on in the country and also agree on how best to continue to support President Tinubu’s led Federal Government.
